Background

During the 2016 presidential election there became a very pervasive odor of fear, bigotry, and sexism. We saw these themes played out on television in front of our children, in the news clips from rallies, and in conversations with friends and family. As this slowly became "the norm" in large parts of the country, we began to feel hopeless and outnumbered, but also – outraged. Outraged that dignity, leadership, and democracy were extinguished on the evening of November 8th, 2016.

We vowed from that day forward, we will not be pushed aside any longer. We are not hopeless, and we have learned that we are indeed, not outnumbered. We will not silence our outrage. We will not give in to the populist and nationalist fervor moving slowly across the globe. We will not cower to a man that uses social media to advance conspiracy theories, at the expense of ordinary citizens. We will not accept racism and xenophobia as the new normal. We will not accept that Citizens United cannot be overturned, and that big oil cannot be stopped to preserve what is left of our environment. We will not accept that science is fake news. We will fight for women, children, minorities, the LGBTQ community, veterans, the elderly, and every citizen in America that deserves a better future.

We have formed Action Groups that act as subcommittees to serve the following interests: Discrimination, Health Care, Education, Environment, and Immigration. Through these groups and the organization at large, we are leading a highly organized, grassroots movement across Oklahoma to enact change on the local and state level. Oklahoma is a state rich in compassion, consciousness, and steadfast determination. Let us all unite for action to promote progressive change while showing the world what a radicalized group of true Okies can accomplish!
